Plus Antibacterial Sutures
Suture material itself is identified as one of the risk factors for surgical site infections. Once implanted in the body, the inert surface of suture material is coated with tissue proteins almost immediately. These proteins function as adhesives for numerous types of bacteria forming a biofilm that protects the colony from both host defences and antibiotic therapy.
KOLLSUT ® -USA Plus Antibacterial Sutures are covered with Chlorhexidine diacetate (CHA), it provides both significant antimicrobial activity and low toxicity and sticks well to mucous membrane.
Chlorhexidine diacetate shows high antibacterial activity against various fungi, virus and bacteria, especially gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, yeast fungi, skin parasites, lipophilic virus.
Chlorhexidine diacetate has a well-established safety profile, it’s quite commonly used for oral rinses and skin cleaners for human. Exposure to Chlorhexidine diacetate from our sutures is minimal. The Chlorhexidine diacetate content of Plus Antibacterial Sutures is 20 ~ 75 ppm (0.0020% ~ 0.0075%)
KOLLSUT ®-USA Plus Antibacterial Sutures are attached with MANI surgical needles, therefore present superior penetration together with bending resistance and, moreover, can significantly lower the risk of surgical site infection.
